During my PhD, I have had to plot many different types of vector data (dike orientation, joint orientation etc...). I grew frustrated with having to switch software to extract Quadrant notation (e.g. N40W) into a format useable for a computer and then reimport it to Matlab. So I wrote two pieces of code that will take Azimuth (0 - 360° measures) and Quadrant (N40W) and convert those measurements into Bearing (-90, due west; 90, due east).
Below is an example of the different measures that convey the same angular measures. Link to my code.
